5 Ingredient Pineapple Cream Cheese Dip
I am reposting my easy-to-make pineapple cream cheese dip appetizer because I love it so much! It’s one of my family’s favorite dip recipes to serve at parties! It’s that fun time of year when we have the wonderful opportunity to enjoy time with friends and family during all sorts of holidays. This recipe started as a cheese ball appetizer.
We all know how recipes get shared with others, and soon, the recipe becomes our modified recipe! This is one of our family’s all-time favorite holiday appetizers. I’m updating this recipe today because I think you will love it! My family always has appetizers during the holidays.
5 Ingredient Pineapple Cream Cheese Dip
This recipe can be made a few days in advance, and then you add the pecans at the last minute. What I love about appetizers is that you can stand around and chitty-chat while enjoying a small snack between conversations. Do you know how we look at all the yummy snacks on the table and grab a small plate? We get to laugh and “catch up” with each other. Life is good!

Pineapple Cream Cheese Dip
Ingredients
- Cream Cheese: This soft, creamy, mild-tasting cheese is made with milk and cream. It’s the perfect cheese for making a dip!
- Crushed Pineapple: Rich in vitamin C, enzymes, and antioxidants. It’s delightful but low in calories. Adds a tropical sweetness to this dip.
- Chopped Pecans: Are rich in protein, healthy fats, nutrients, and fiber. They are versatile nuts with a crisp, buttery flavor, which adds a crunch to this dip.
- Green Onion (optional): Green onions have a milder taste than regular onions. They are similar to shallots, chives, leeks, and garlic.
- Seasoned Salt (Lawry’s): A tasty and unique blend of salt, spices, and herbs.
Step One: Gather Ingredients – Set Out Cream Cheese
The first step is to let the cream cheese sit at room temperature to soften so the ingredients combine more easily.
Step Two: Drain Pineapple
Drain the pineapple in a colander to remove as much juice as possible. I just drink the juice, and it would be great in a smoothie as well.
Step Three: Chop Nuts
Next, chop the pecans with a chopper or a knife. I used my old trusted Pampered Chef chopper, I love it and so do my daughters!
Step Four: Combine Ingredients – Mix
Combine the softened cream cheese, the drained crushed pineapple, chopped pecans, and Lawry’s Seasoned Salt. Green onions are optional. I didn’t use them today, but they add a unique flavor to the dip.
Blend the cream cheese mixture completely with a handheld mixer or food processor. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Serve with your favorite crackers or veggies.
Finished Product
This is indeed my all-time favorite dip! I love it because it’s sweet, creamy, and wrapped in one bite! Be sure to eat it when cool, right out of your fridge.

What crackers can I serve with this pineapple cream cheese dip?
For a salty option, we serve this pineapple cream cheese dip with wheat thins, chicken in a biscuit, tortilla chips, potato chips, and Ritz crackers. This is my favorite way to serve this delicious dip!
You could serve this pineapple cream cheese dip with cookies such as vanilla wafers and graham crackers for a sweeter option. However, just about any of your favorite crackers or cookies will work with this appetizer recipe. It would taste so good!
For a savory option, you could serve it with French bread crisps, crostini, thin slices of sourdough bread, or bagels. There are so many options!
Can I serve this pineapple cream cheese dip with vegetables?
We have served it with crisp celery, carrot sticks, and sliced sweet peppers. Again, just about any veggie will work.
How do I store this pineapple cream cheese dip after I make it?
Store it in an airtight container in your fridge. Don’t leave it on your counter or table very long; eat it while it’s cool.
Can I freeze this pineapple cream cheese dip?
I wouldn’t. After you freeze cream cheese, the consistency is never the same. It will be crumbly and not creamy. This recipe is best served as a creamy dip, and that’s the result we are going for.
How long is this pineapple cream cheese dip safe to store in the refrigerator?
I tend to be extra careful with the food I make and store. If this dip has been refrigerated continually, it will last much longer. It should be safe for 3-4 days inside your refrigerator. I would start with a small portion for guests and leave the rest in the fridge. I never keep my dip out of the refrigerator for over an hour. It tastes best when fresh and cool.
Could I serve this pineapple cream cheese dip as a fruit dip?
My family loves to serve this dip with salty chips or crackers, but there are so many different delicious options! This dip is versatile and can be served in a variety of ways, depending on the desired result and the type of event in which it is being served.
You could serve it in a dipping bowl as a cream cheese fruit dip served with sliced strawberries, cantaloupe, melon, apples, or any other favorite fruits your family loves. This pineapple cream cheese dip is a favorite whether served at a BBQ, Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, a wedding or baby shower, or a potluck dinner.
Could I add protein to this pineapple cream cheese dip?
I love this recipe as is! But if you decide to add a protein, I recommend adding freshly cooked chopped bacon or ham.

Yes this recipe has been around! My mom has what I think is the original. She cut it out of a newspaper back in the 50’s. The original was for a cheeseball and it is a lovely piece, but for ease, just a bowl of dip is quick!
Mickey, the original recipe I have said to add chopped bell peppers…I have never added those! It has been in my recipe box for at least 40 years! Hugs! Linda
Sounds good Linda!

Hello, Linda. How are you? I just finished reading this post and this dip sounds great. Could you tell me how it tastes, without and with a cracker; salty preferably. Don’t do chips & dip much any more; but have found out recently during my research and found how good pineapple is for you. Let me know, I’d really like to try it. Thanks
Hi Pamela, oh my gosh, I cut eat it with a spoon! Did I just admit that yes?!? It’s basically cream cheese with crushed pineapple. I tend to add more pineapple, only because I have made this for so many years I just dump and taste it. Some people add the entire 1-1/2 teaspoons of Lawry’s Salt. I have to taste it as I go. I use a fresh spoon!!! LOL! You can make it with or without pecans. It’s so versatile, add more or add less. I love pineapple so I go heavy on the pineapple. Pineapple is really good for us, you are so right! Linda
Well, I guess you really like pineapple. Thanks so much for your
recommendation. I prefer it cooked, but I will try it. This recipe isn’t your norm and I’m glad you shared it.
Hi Pamela, what’s funny it’s “Googled” more than any other recipe I have! LOL! I guess people love pineapple! Linda
Love this but I do add the bell pepper, green and red around Christmas, yellow, orange for summertime, you can mix them up. I chop them pretty small too because it’s easier to eat and chat that way.
Hi Erin, oh my gosh, I want to try using green and red bell peppers!!! I love it! Thank you, Linda
I have made this recipe for about 40 years n I add the green n red pepper cut in very small bits too. My family loves this
Hi Louella, thanks for the idea! I have got to try this recipe using red and green peppers. Great tip! Linda
Man this looks so good! I can’t wait to try it.
Hi Jess, you have got to try this for the holidays! Be ready to hand out the recipe! Linda

Hi Camille, oh I love hearing this! It’s our family’s favorite dip! Linda
I had forgotten about this recipe! Recently we tried a similar dip with jalapeños added! I picked it up at Sam’s! My daughters and I love spice! My husband doesn’t! Loves the taste but not the heat! This allows him the taste without the heat! Thank you so much!
Hi Laura, oh I love hearing this!! I need to go to Sam’s and check out the jalapeños dip!! Linda
This is a fabulous recipe . I slice a pineapple in half and place the entire dip on top then surround with Ritz crackers.
Hi Margaret, oh I like your idea of using a pineapple sliced in half!! I love it!!! Linda
My DIL serves this dip without nuts or onions, along with crackers and chips. We love it!! Thanks for the reminder to serve this as a holiday party idea.
Hi Linda, thank you for the 5 stars, my sweet friend! I could eat it without nuts or onions as well!! Linda
Hi Linda, in the 70’s when working summers for the US Forest Service (in the High Sierras), we could always count on a tub of this at the “mess hall”. Originally the cook made it for the vegetarians, but it was such a welcome relief from the nasty govern- ment commodity lunch meat, that it became the star of the show on the table where we made our lunches. If it wasn’t included in our chow rations for 2 wk. “spike camps”, there was mutiny! Ours just had pineapple & pecans, but made yummy sandwiches & bagels. These days, I add just a drip of Agave syrup to heighten the pineapple. Will have to try your savory version. Glad to find your site! Stay Safe,
Sheree Walker Tope
Hi Sheree, oh my gosh, I need to make some and put it on some bagels!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE hearing this! Thank you for sharing! Linda
How do you make it into a ball ? Wouldn’t it be to soft for it?
Hi Debbie, put the finished product into the refrigerator, (covered with plastic wrap) so the cream cheese will firm up and you can mold it into a ball. Enjoy, Linda
Linda,
Going to have to try this recipe. Anything with pecans and pineapple in it has got to be great!!! Especially if they are Texas pecans, pronounced puhcons, not peecans! LOL!!!
Hi Harry, thank for the 5 stars my sweet friend! I am so glad you brought up how to pronounce “puhcons” aka pecans! My grandparents lived in Arlington Texas and Prairie Hill, Texas. We always had pecans! They had an mini orchard of pecan trees! We would all sit around and crack them open. Great memories and the best pecans! Linda
