  1. I am taking mashed potatoes to my daughter’s for Thanksgiving. This sounds so easy and tasty. I don’t and never have used a mixer for mashed potatoes! I like a few small chunks so I use a masher like my mother had. It takes a bit more work than a mixer but it is what I know! Also, to make creamier mashed potatoes, my mother always used heavy cream (when we milked our own cows) or undiluted evaporated milk. So, again, that is what I use. I rarely have cream cheese on hand and probably wouldn’t use in mashed potatoes anyway but it does sound interesting. Bottom line, I will try this method (crock pot) so I have the potatoes done when I drive to her home and just have to keep them on warm. Then all I will need to do is make the gravy when dinner is ready.
