For people who are on a prescription blood thinner like Warfarin/Coumadin to keep the blood properly flowing and not clotting, having too much vitamin K can interfere with the medication. Be sure to check with your doctor if you are on blood thinners.

Also, broccoli has been known to adversely affect the proper functioning of the thyroid gland in some people. If you’re currently on thyroid medication, possibly as part of hormone therapy, again, check with your doctor to see if you should eliminate or reduce broccoli as part of your diet.

  2. I dehydrate broccoli and turn it into a powder. I add the powder to my smoothies, on baked potatoes and other dishes. Do I lose anything in the process?

    1. Hi Kerry, here’s my take on dehydrating broccoli and making broccoli powder as well. I’m not a Dietician but I feel strongly about adding as many vegetables to our meals, smoothies and use them as side dishes as well. I love hearing what you have done. I have not dehydrated broccoli. I know I have to blanch it for 2-3 minutes according to my book. I may try it, good job! Linda
